20 Women Appointed to Boards in April08
Twenty women were appointed to Corporate Boards of Directors in April as reported on NewsonWomen.com. This is higher than the number appointed last month, but less than the total appointed in April 07. The reason for a decrease in appointments is open to interpretation with theories ranging from an economic slowdown to a lack of interest in putting women on boards. Elizabeth Ghaffari of ChampionBoards.com discusses the "Texas Theory" in her analysis which shows there are several factors that can influence the numbers. Read Elizabeth's analysis on championboards.com. May seems to be starting off well with seven appointments in the first week (four posted and I have three more to post). We will continue it follow it closely.
