Twenty eight women were appointed to Boards of Directors in July, 2009, a 16% increase over the previous month. Major companies appointing women to Boards in July included General Motors, Amgen, Estee Lauder, Ulta, Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Boston Scientific, the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and Citigroup, who appointed Diana Taylor (pictured) to their Board. This is an improvement over the previous month when there were fewer major company board appointments of women. The headquarters of the corporations appointing women to boards this month were located in fifteen different states, with 32% of the companies appointing women to Boards in July headquartered in the state of California.
