August 2009 Lull in Appointments for Women Corporate Directors

Seventeen women were appointed to Boards of Directors in August,2009, down from the 22 women appointed in August,2008 and the 28 appointed in July,2009. The poor economy coupled with the summer doldrums have hurt our progress as just a few major companies appointed women to Boards this month, including Peggy Fowler (pictured) appointed at Hawaiian Electric, and Judith von Seldeneck appointed at Citizens Financial Group. Hopefully things will pick up in September.
