Number of Women Appointed to Boards in September09 Lower than September08

Eighteen women, including Cathy Minehan (pictured), were appointed to corporate boards in September, 2009 as reported on NewsonWomen. This total beats August, 09, but is far less than the 25 reported in September, 2008. Major companies appointing women to Boards in September included Toll Brothers, Burlington Northern Sante Fe, Pfizer, Piper Jaffray, Key Corp, UAL, Advance Auto Parts, Korn Ferry International, MSCI, MassMutual, and Cliff Natural Resources. So far this year, NewsonWomen has reported 191 women appointed to board positions, just slightly behind our total for the first nine months of 2008. Let's hope the fourth quarter gives us a big finish.
