Emma Wilhelm is about to have a new baby - but not before she finished co-authoring her new book, The 8 Dimensions of Leadership. The book discusses the different aspects of leadership and helps you assess your "primary leadership dimension". Emma tells us about her interest in the book:
"Six months after my first child was born, I took part in a women’s group meant to help moms create more intentionality in their lives. One of the exercises was putting together a “bucket list” of sorts, and “write a book” was near the top of my list. I believe that by putting goals on paper, we set ourselves up for success. The training and development company that I work for had been focusing on leadership development since I started in early 2008. In fact, that’s one of the reasons they hired me—as a former college athletics coach and instructor, I have a passion for leadership. Within a month of putting my goal on paper, I had the opportunity to coauthor what became The 8 Dimensions of Leadership with two of my professional colleagues. Our book was published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers this spring—only 18 months after I wrote my list. On the homefront, I have also written a near-complete memoir manuscript and am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my second child in late May. The last year and half has taught me a lot about how to balance my personal and professional lives, and I’m excited for fellow women leaders to find some fresh inspiration from our new book!"
Emma co-authored the book with Jeffrey Sugerman Ph.D, President and CEO of Inscape Publishing, and Mark Scullard, Ph.D., Director of Research at Inscape Publishing. Emma gained her own publishing experience in research and content development. Emma gained leadership experience coaching college athletic teams, teaching undergraduate courses, and advising student leadership groups through NCAA and YMCA programs. Congratulations to Emma on her new book and her new baby!
