Over 50 women were given big jobs in March 2012, ending the downward slide we have seen in job appointments since last November. Major companies appointing women to big jobs in March include Dunkin' Brands, J.M. Smucker, Kimberly-Clark, J.P. Morgan Chase, Constant Contact, Reader's Digest, Comcast, Campbell Soup, Warnaco, Boston Market, New York Life, Williams-Sonoma, General Dynamics, Mastercard, Scholastic, J.C. Penney, and VF Corporation. It's great to see six women made CEOs of online companies this month including Blip, The Street, Virtual Piggy, Oversee.net, WikiLoan, and Cravebox. And in March, women entrepreneurs raised $58.4million in new funding, and The LevoLeague and QuincyApparel launched new sites. Women Innovate Mobile, the the first startup accelerator and mentorship-driven program designed for women-founded companies in the mobile space, announced the winners of their incubator pitch event. Fanzooloo, a fan based sports travel tool, won the LAVA pitch. Elizabeth Iorns, Ph.D. (pictured), Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Science Exchange and a breast cancer scientist, was named the 2012 Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Emerging Postdoctoral Entrepreneur. March was an exciting month of new jobs, new starts and great accomplishments.
