Susan Vitale, Chief Marketing Officer of iCIMS (SaaS talent acquisition platform), has climbed the corporate ladder from intern to her present position as CMO. At only 30 years old, Susan directs iCIMS' go-to-market and portfolio strategy to drive corporate growth and product adoption. As a young woman in the business world, she knows first-hand what it takes to excel in your career. "Many of us strive for friendships at work, but not everyone makes a point of finding a mentor, which is much more valuable," says Susan. "With the right mentor in place, your chances of success are much greater. They can help you assess your skills and identify your strengths and weaknesses. I am a big fan of yoga, and I like to think of a mentorship like the relationship between the yoga student and the instructor. You’re the one doing all the work, and your mentor is like the instructor, leading you through it and encouraging you. Although your mentor might suggest that you take a metaphorical head stand in your career, it’s really up to you to make it happen!" Susan believes mentors are a way to check in on the milestones you set out to achieve. "Mentors are people we can bounce ideas off of, vent to, and trust with our emotions. Most of all, our mentors are there to challenge us and remind us to challenge ourselves."
