Women for Women International, the organization that helps women survivors of war, held its 20th Anniversary Gala yesterday in New York and honored Hillary Clinton with the 2013 "Champion of Peace" Award. Women for Women International gives women in war torn areas instruction and help over a 12 month period teaching them economic self-sufficiency. It also gives these women direct aid, rights education, and job skills training. Zainab Salbi and Amjad Atallah, co-founders of the organization, received the WFWI Visionary Award. Since its beginnings, Women for Women has distributed more than $108 million in direct aid, microcredit loans, and other program services. Here's why it's important:
